Not uploading any photos that are taken in phone's 'selfie' mode

I notice that any photo i try to take using the phone camera's 'selfie' mode will not properly upload (where the lens is flipped to the front of the phone, instead of the back side with the flash.)

The top photo is a regular picture, the bottom one was taken in selfie at the same time. What's different about the make-up of these images that makes it so??

I really hope this a special feature meant to prevent selfies.
