Just a NPD that wasn't meant. I scored a cheapish Boss HM-3 hyper metal on CL.
I tried it on bass and wow! Its really awesome. I'll spare my bad playing on everyone but it can do low or high gain all while retaining your low end that some dirt pedals suck out.
Whats the best pedal for metal? The one with metal in the name!
Anyway, I remember a thread a while ago about the infamous HM-2 on bass. I never cared for that, at least with my BEHRINGER hm300 clone. The hyper metal is different. Nasty but really deep.
Ps: Honorable mention goes to the EH Bass Muff. Its a fuzz not distortion but I don't care. It sounds great and needs to be on every budget minded metal bassists board.
