I have a question for all of you bass players, who are familiar with the orange, AD 200. Wouldn’t it be cool if they did an anniversary edition, that made it at least 3 to 500 Watts with a DI. If this amp had that it would be the world’s best amp in my opinion. The thing just lacks power. Ampeg did a 50th anniversary. I think Orange should do an anniversary edition of this amp. What do you guys think.

I'd wager that no mainstream amp manufacturer will ever release a 300+ to 500 watt all tube amp because of the massive costs, weight and tiny potential demand. The AD200 occupies the sub SVT market with a simple signal path 200 watt tube amp that has enough power with the correct cabs for many of its users. A DI out would be a nice feature but might not recover the R&D/NRE costs through additional sales.
The AD200 is what it is.

I agree with you. This is just a wish because the aunt definitely needs a DI because it sounds so amazing. It definitely needs just a little bit more wattage to.

I think they call that the bass terror.

As has been pointed out, doubling to tripling the output power would be outrageously expensive and heavier than hell. If you need more power than the AD200 can do then try an SVT or other 300 watt amp. If you really need 500+ watts go solid state. I rarely find that I need more stage volume than a good 100-200 watt tube amp can provide. If I need to be in the FOH with my orange I usually tag a countryman type 85 off the speaker out. At home I use a captor x with it, haven’t tried that live though it would be a good option.

I do have both the AD200 and bass terror. You can get the terror pretty close in sound to the AD. Doesn’t have that lush 3-D feel at stage volume, but it’s pretty darn close.

This is helpful I’ve been skeptical about the bass terror
