Hey All!!

So I've been planning a jag bass build ever since Fender discontinued the American Standard with all of the switches and I'm finally getting ready to dive into it. Something I didn't know what that there were some Japanese Fender Jaguar Basses that had two J pickups with the bridge pickup being closer to the bridge (70s style?).

Looking at how much everything would cost, the most affordable option for me would be to buy one of the Japanese ones and just reroute the neck pickup to put a P in and call it a day, but the space between the two pickups would be great than that on the American Standard or any Fender P/J bass really.

Does anyone know what the sound/tonal difference would be between the P/J with the standard bridge pickup position and the 70s style version? I'm planning on using the EMG Geezer Butler pickup set in the bass if the actual pickups would make a difference.

Thanks!!
