Pairing cab with svt210av...15e??

Hi - I have an Ampeg 210AV that I absolutely love. I was originally looking at the 610hlf but didn’t want to lug it around everywhere including rehearsal. I wanted something at least as tall as a 610 but broken up in separate cabs.

Is there anything wrong with pairing this with an SVT15E? Is there another cab that would pair better and still be at least as tall as a 610 would be? I can only go to a 4ohm load at the moment but have been looking at the LH1000 which would give me options for power splitting and impedance issues due to the 2 power cores and blend knob.

Yeah I just want for aesthetics something that is as tall as the 610 but with optimized tone. I’m wondering if maybe I should just keep the 210 for practice and small shows and get the 610 anyway for regular shows.

I’d get an 810 but it won’t fit in my car.

I appreciate the opinion.

Only way to know is try it.
You'll catch all kinds of criticism if you mix or if you recommend not mixing.

Having mixed countless speakers in my younger years. I got a very consistent sound when I bought my first 810E pair.
And have used a single cab for rehearsal and small gigs for years. I've heard the 1540he which is Ampegs mix of the same drivers but 4x10 1x15. And any guy I've met that genuine loves a sealed 8x10 royally hates those 1540 cabs.

Personally for decent SPL and wanting a matching Ampeg rig. The 610 is a good option. I personally don't like the form factor of the cab. But hey if 610 fits and 810 don't. It's good option.

Otherwise if your a sealed 10 guy another matching 210HE will be just as consistent as a 410 Ampeg. Just a split.

I personally love the SVT15E or even 0lder Ampeg 1x15 combos. And have had various setups I gigged with for fun. I never really bought them. I just grabbed random cabs when I sold used equipment. But a 2x15 with a pair of SVT15E is very fun. I personally always went back to my sealed 810.

I've always had truck or van. But have carried a 810 on a roof rack and even plopped it on a GEO lol. Yep Geo metro lol. When I say I like matching drivers. Ain't stupid heard it all before. I'll get my 810 there. Way before I use someone's amazing mix cab hooty tooty rig

You could try it and you may in fact like it, but I would go second 210av all day long and twice on Sundays since I haven't found a 210/115 combination I've actually liked.

I would agree with you 99 44/100% of the time on this ... most mix and match cab solutions tend to have issues. However, I found one combination that works well. I have a Carvin MB15 250 watt 1x15 combo amp that I use for rehearsals and the rare acoustic gigs I do from time to time. I would call it a good amp, but not a great one. Last Summer, I was at a rehearsal with one of my bands whose guitar player is an amp tech. During rehearsal, a guy brought in his Ampeg Micro VR stack to get fixed and I asked if I might try his SVT210AV cab with my Carvin (which has an output for an 8 ohm extension cabinet) for a few songs as I'd always wanted to try one. He kindly let me try it and that cab along with my Carvin MB15 really sounded good together. Fast forward to last week when I finally got me one. An eBay seller had a demo floor model for sale at a very good used price along with a "make offer" option so I made an offer. They counter offered with a brand spankin' new one in a sealed shipping crate with a full factory warranty for the same price as the used demo. It is a recently manufactured one as the documentation on the shipping crate references Yamaha and it sounds simply wonderful with my Carvin MB15.

Well I pulled the trigger and went for it cause I found a steal on a 15e that I could not pass up. I’ve only heard it in my basement so far so time will tell but so far it sounds really good to me. Most of the amp tone comes from my Sansamp RBI and a hartke 3500 acting as a power amp which is sending what I believe would be around 175 watts to each cab. I can feel the air moving standing in front of it and it gets deeeeep. I like not having a tweeter as my old cab did and boy it was piercing. I tried each cab on its own to hear the sonic differences and there are
Some subtle differences between the two but I find they pair quite well. I like that they have matched power rating so I’m not killing one cab while trying to optimize the other.

im wondering now if I were to go for a 2ohm capable amp And add a 2nd 210av and see what that sounds like. The example I’m playing with is the lh1000. In 2ohm mode I’d be sending 545 watts across the three cabs which would be about 180 per cab so still within power rating
