Passive Bypass Switch

I was adviced to ask this question here instead.


I've search all over the Internet and TB and can't seem to find this info (or ask the question the right way).

I'm wanting to add a passive bypass switch to my MIM PBass Special. First time I attempt something like this. Is it as easy as:

-replacing the current volume pot with a DPDT Push/pull of the same load (500k?).

-routing pickups to the new pot.

-routing one output of the pot to the pre amp and the other one straight to the Jack.


Do I wire both the passive and active wires to the same terminations in the jack?
