Hi, noticed there are no threads for Paul Banks of Interpol , since there last bass player left he has been holding down the low end on their recent album El Pintor.
I love the bass on this album, it is nothing flashy or technical but it is just good solid tasteful playing with a good solid tone , after Carlos left with no replacement lined up they could have gone the route of delegating the bass to the background like some other bands (that i will not mention) have but they decide to keep it upfront which was a great decision

All the rage back home

I completely agree. Just really tactful playing and a consistent solid tone. There's a couple of parts here and there where I think he is trying to do what Carlos would do but that being said I really a, a fan of those whole approach on that last album.

I really think they should hire another guitar player and have Paul take up the bass on studio and live , the bass player they hire for the live stuff is ok but missing something

Thumbs up for mr Banks, who's definitely a solid musician.
Actually I miss Carlos soo much. No one will ever be just like him...
I agree but i think the quality of Carlos playing started to decline around the 3rd album, the bass lines became less inventive and the bass on the 4th album was almost non existant, you could tell he was starting to get bored in the band

Yes you have a point. Well let me say that the 3rd album was a "so-so" album for the whole band... I like the 4th a lot, but I agree with you, there's a lack of effort on the bass side. I like it nevertheless, but you're probably right, Carlos sounded kinda bored with the whole thing...
I think I should rephrase myself: "No one will ever be just like Carlos...not even himself...!"
