I spent a few days last week in Central Florida, and had an opportunity to hit a bunch of pawn shops. Saw a lot of good deals (Washburn Scavenger for $100, Ibanez Roadstar "bean" for $200,) but didn't see much that I wanted to take home with me. I only bought an Ampeg B-100R for $125 and a Morley Bass Wah.

I also saw plenty of bad deals, probably none worse than this:

This shop had about 8 American and Mexican Strats, mostly market priced, not sure how they arrived at this Dean's price...

Thread derail warning: how has CL been for you lately? Up here in NE FL it's been the same old junk, some fairly priced, some outlandishly priced. There's a goody buy on a Mesa M6 Carbine + 410 PH cab, but me no have dinero. OfferUp and LetGo are equally dead. And anything I try to sell at even less-than market prices is always met with a lowball.

As for pawn shops here, I haven't found much that stands out lately as a good deal, or anything I'd really want. I'm trying to save for a specific bass cab and amp so that makes anything else unappealing.

I haven't seen much that I wanted to buy on CL locally, but there are a few good deals to be had. It's always a mixed bag here, most sellers seem to be asking for more than retail prices for beat up gear, but a few are reasonable. I've had more luck selling on CL lately, probably because my gear is priced fairly. My Walkabout combo sold within two weeks, and the buyer asked me why it was so cheap :) I sold it for what I paid a few years ago, $700.

Wow, speaking of craigslist lunacy, I just got a text rant from a potential buyer from an ad I posted today: I listed a bass and mentioned that I might be interested in trades, got a few pics of his bass within minutes of posting my ad. The offer looks good, but I'm a little bass-heavy and would like to wait a few days to see if I get any other offers (the pics might have been downloaded from the internet, but I'd clear that up before proceeding anyway.)

Me: I might be into it, let me get back to you in a few days.

Him: Man if I had a dollar for everyone that's ever said that they're interested and would get back to me that actually did. :(That seals it I will not hear from you again. Hopefully you will find a buyer soon. Take care and thanks for the courtesy of replying :)

Nevermind the logic fail in the first sentence, but I definitely don't want to deal with some delicate crybaby. It's a shame too, it might have been an interesting trade if the pics were legit. Most of the trade offers I get are laughably lopsided in the other guy's favor.

Unfortunately your honest response is actually a typical blow the guy off response. People often aren't direct. I'm not saying his response was great but your message is "i"m not really interested" in Craigslist speak.

I suppose you're right, thanks for the reality check :thumbsup: Maybe it's atypical, but if I'm not interested in an offer, I'll say that in plain language.

Very little in my area. If there is something of interest, it's usually vastly overpriced. Late April/Early May I happened to get lucky spotting a Greg Curbow Petite 6-String for just $2,000 Canadian ($1,509 USD via today's exchange rate).

That's pretty cool, I didn't realize there were non-Cort versions of those!

On a vaguely related note, every Cort Curbow bass I've seen has been in a pawn shop, and the necks always seem horribly bowed to the point of being uncorrectible by standard means. Is that a known issue for the Cort Curbow?

Sorry, I've never owned or played Cort's licensed versions of the Curbow, so i cannot answer your question.

When I see them it's not the neck that is bowed, it's the body! Because the body is made out of synthetic material, it actually flexes, raising the action significantly. The five string versions really exhibit this. I ignore all of them now.
