Hello, this is my first post. I'm thinking of selling my Mark IV and needed some opinions. Current rig is a Peavey Mark IV with a Gallien Krueger backline stack. I have this Peavey combo 1x15 I used for my keyboard but I've taken another look at using it for my bass.
The main reason is that it can power 2 ohms at 300 watts, just like the Mark IV. Technically it's "only" a 4 ohm output, but that's still enough to run my current stack along with the built in black widow. Guitar Center offered me $225 for the head but I may put it on FB marketplace for $300-350. Probably put it towards a more reasonably sized combo for practice, or bills .
On the other hand the Mark IV has been really versatile. Having two channels, with seperate send/return, and more advanced eq gives some more tone options. I'm also thinking about the weight. That combo is over 100 lbs and only has a dinky rubber handle on top. I'm going to install casters and possibly recessed side handles but even in my 20s it's taxing.
I'm really not sure if I should keep the head, sell it, or even sell my combo instead. Guitarist says no one would hear the difference any way Guidance appreciated
