Hello again. I stopped hearing from anyone on where to send my Mini Mega amp that has some issues.
Im not just looking for a free, non-warranty repair.
Just a authorized service to determine what could be wrong with my amp that cuts out intermittently.
I'd appreciate any assistance, if you can still offer it.
Thanks for a reply either way. ernie

Above is a PM I had with a Peavey rep quite awhile back. I'd seen a thread here, can't find that now. where someone stated Peavey may be helping with issues users had with their MM 1K bass amp. I made contact with "Bobby" from Peavey, IIRC. He was attempting to help me send my broken amp to Peavey to have it checked out. Another Peavey person got on the thread, again, if I'm recalling this correctly and stated that my amp was out of warranty and they could not help me. At least that was the gist of the convo I read in my PMs.

I sent one last email stating that I was not looking for a free repair but just where I could send my amp, shipped or locally, to have it assessed. I've not seen anymore correspondence from Peavey to me. I tried emailing the repair center and called a CS ph number I googled, I left a VM but again, no replies. I found a local GK authorized repair center in NW Houston, as I also have a broken GK MB800. I've yet to drop off the GK as they want a fee just to drop it off and I'd prefer to have my MM 1K assessed first as I preferred using it.

This same local shop stated they maybe could look at my MM 1K as well, though I did not see them as a Authorized Peavey repair center. I guess since my Peavey is out of warranty, it doesn;t matter who looks at it now. Just hoped someone here had a better experience with Peavey to possibly have their MM 1K repaired by Peavey as I'd read here some had issues that Peavey repaired their amps, just for the shipping charges. Thanks for any helpful replies here, Peace, ernie

I don’t know of a repair shop, but if that amp were mine, I’d be investigating if the amp was going into thermal protection. Common in many (not all) modern, light weight bass amps.
Does it come back to life on it’s own?
I had a PV powered monitor that worked fine until I tried to go ampless and play my bass through it. The low frequencies caused more current to flow in the output section-instant heat.

THanks for your reply. I turn the amp on, it lets me play thru it for a few minutes or longer, then turns off. I've also had it turn off again right after I turn it on. OTher times, I have practiced thru different speakers and thru the headphones options. It ran for several hours that time. So I'd describe it as a intermittent problem.

Those are difficult and proprietary amps to repair. Most service centers will have difficulty with them, I would continue to pester Peavey for the name of an authorized service center that has experience with this series of amps.

What you don’t want is for an under-qualified service tech to charge you for his learning g experience that ends with an unrepairable amp and a big labor bill.

Used to be a place that worked on Peaveys (they repaired my at-the-time Peavey VB2) called Mars Electronic Repair, they were on north IH-45 between Beltway 8 and FM1960. They did work in the building for Parker Music, but after a while it got renamed to Hermes Music...not sure if Mars is still doing repairs out of there or not, it's been a while since I've gone down there.

Other than staying on Peavey about giving you info on an authorized repair center, might want to call up some music stores for leads and see if their suggestions can provide evidence of being authorized by Peavey.

Okay, here is the skinny on the MiniMega 1000 repair situation. Straight from the guy (and a close friend at Peavy) that is responsible for supplying the parts to the bench guys that do the repairs.

They do indeed service the MiniMega 1000. They will advise you if the repair cost is more than the amp might be worth. The last one they had in for repair was June 18th of this year.

Since no RA is required to ship an amplifier in for repair, you can simply ship the amp to Peavey Service Center, 710 A Street, Meridian, MS 39301. Include the usual info and contact info. You can call them at 877-732-8391 or email “[email protected]”.

As with virtually everyone else these days, they are short-handed in the service department, but they are getting stuff repaired and out the door. If they don’t respond immediately, keep trying. My friend there is as good a person as they come.

Good luck!

@Geri O, thanks so much for that information. I think the ph # I tried awhile back was from a Google search and so may not have been the correct one. I will def try to pursue this now with the information that you've offered. Hoping for good results. Peace and thanks all for the helpful replies.

Happy to help!

My friend at Peavey is interested in seeing you get your amp serviced. Keep us posted on your progress.
