Just picked a Stingray 5 - transparent teal blue - 2006. This thing is mint (or so I thought) plays like a beast but was having some EQ/tonal problems. There was an odd thump in the cavity too. 2 of the three modes worked "OK" on the 3 band switch however in the single coil mode - it sounded like it was underwater.
Thinking something was off I took things apart - everything looked extremely clean - when I removed the pickup I basically had it fall apart in my hand - specifically the Phantom Coil, which I was surprised to find in general!
After doing some quick research it looks like the Phantom coils busted poles (looks like a 2 second solder) however there is some sort of glue on the pickup itself (phantom appears to be glued directly to the Humbucker itself). Soldering it back on looks easy enough - however if the glue isn't holding it needs to be reglued.
If I was to DIY - (is that even a good idea?) what glue would I use to put this back together? Any risk around types of glue?
