Does anyone have experience with this cabinet? I would use it at blues jams held in small venues. I would use it with a Gallien Kruger MB 500 amp. This cabinet indicates 400 watts, but the venue(s) we play at have strict volume limits, so I would never push this amp beyond a safe level. I have a 4x10" GK neo cabinet, however, now at 65, I have blown out my back and the size of my equipment, unfortunately, takes priority over tone. However, I still want the best sound I can get. I am playing a new model Marcus Miller/Sire 18 volt active bass, which can be powerful. This cabinet has four 5" speakers and still has 4 to 5 * reviews in the online music store ads (AMS, ZS, S.A., ).

I have 2 C8 PJB cabs and my search for bass amps is over, one C4 with 400 watts will blow your mind, I got the C8 because it has wheel and a telescopic Handle, but the C4 will do the job
Thank you very much for your reply. You can imagine my dismay at possibly not playing live anymore. Difficult choices. Although, with the ratings this amp has (usually five *'s) and the price, I think it more than just practice equipment. I am going to try to find a distributor in my area (N. Ca) and try one. I really appreciate your response. I have not heard of PJB equipment before.

I’ll give a slightly different view...

The PJB cabs are great but they have their own thing and IME it is a niche thing. My experience also tells me that you often have to pay more for the same basic results with PJB... IME, to get the same amount of volume or low end you have to pay more with the PJB and often end up with more weight even if a smaller footprint.

There are tons of other small, lightweight cabs that sound great out there now that all deserve a look. I’d check out the Genzler BA10-2, the MAS 1,8, the Barefaced 110, the Acme B1, Trickfish SM110, and there are probably a bunch of others as well. Unfortunately, PJB doesn’t give complete specs to get an idea how their cab compares in the real world. For example, they advertise the C4 at 30hz-15khz but they don’t say if that is -10 dB or -20db or -3 dB so you don’t have a sense of how much low end there really is. Likewise they do not tell you the efficiency (probably less important in your situation but still a real question - it would be a drag to discover it won’t go loud enough for your uses).

Already got one c4 which I pair with my MarkBass Combo.
Now I’m looking to get rid of the combo in favour of a genzler magellan 800
I’m tempted to get another c4 (price is great).
My only concern is potential loss in low end/volume :/ I’ve got to say I have nothing to base this argument off.
My other options are to pair it with either a vanderkley MNT 112 or Bergantino HND 112 however both are double the price.
Being from the uk I don’t seem to be able to get hold of anything from Bareface however I doubt they would be in my price range either.
Any input from you guys would be great.

I'm running two C4s with the GK MB800. I play 5 string tuned a whole step down with
DR DDT5-45 Drop-Down Tuning Strings. The C4's kill it. Very articulate and a full range flat frequency response. The two C4s together are way better than trying to mix with other cabs, which I've tried with various 2x10's, an Eden 2x12, along with other 4x10's. My tone snob guitar player with his fractal ax8 says the C4 and GK are the top of the heap. We play in both a Boston, Kansas, Journey cover band and a heavy metal band and the rig more than handles both gigs.

I compared my light'n' loud Markbass 2x12 cabinet to a single and then a pair of PJB C4 4x5s. The PJBs sounded absolutely stunning - loud, articulate, focused and every bit as 'deep' as the 2x12 but without the woolly 'woof'. One C4 on it's own sounded great, but two together sounded INCREDIBLE. They do an even lighter neodymium version that I haven't yet tested out, but would like too. A pair of C4s are DEFINETLY on my shopping list - I need light and I need loud and the fact that they sound so wonderful is an absolute bonus.

I own one C4 and use it with my Genz Benz Shuttle 9.2 and upright bass. It sounds fantastic and will get louder than I expected it to. The lows are clean and clear. I expected the highs to be clean and clear but the lack of muddiness in the lows is remarkable.

I have toyed with the idea of getting another one for use when I play electric bass but I have other cabs that do that so well it is not sensible for me to buy another C4.

I own two C4's which are daisy-chained to a PJB BG400 combo. I will honestly tell you that I was skeptical at first if these cabs would be loud enough to be heard with a full band. 5" drivers were a hard sell for me initially. I come from the mindset bigger is better however I can confirm these puppies were more than loud enough and my mindset on smaller drivers has changed. We had a full band rehearsal with Drums, Vocals, Back up vocals, Two guitar players and a Keyboard player. Everyone commented that they heard me loud and clear. The low-end was punchy and focused all the way down to the B string. Impressive when you consider the footprint of these small cubes which only measure 13x13x14. My gain was at noon and my master was at 9:30 so I wasn't even close to maxing the amp out. I did a lot of research before I bought this rig. I wanted to see if there was anything out there that sounded better. Sure there were better sounding rigs but in every case, they were bigger. So if you are looking for the biggest sound you can get out of a 13x13x14 cube. Nothing I have heard so far beats C4 cabs.

Great looking rig! I wish I'd stumbled across these a year ago as I would have bought them over the Markbass 2x12 cab like a shot ...
