I was lucky enough to see them a couple of times during their classic period. The most riveting stripped-down basic rock band ever. No makeup, no pyro, just owning the stage with cool moves and great songs executed flawlessly.

Phil is a masterclass for effectively fronting a band.

Sting has said that, as a bassist/singer/songwriter, Phil Lynott was one of his three biggest influences, along with Macca and Jack Bruce.

As a rock composer, Phil was no joke. His work was very high quality.
