Calling TBers in south NJ, north DE and southeast PA! Who's got local gongs coming up? Anyone catch Primus and The Femmes this summer? Victor will be at The Keswick in Glenside Dec 15, and Hooky and The Light downtown in April...

Hope to connect with some of you here locally.

I apologize for resurrecting such an old thread, but I figured this was the best place for me to raise my had as a "Jerseydelphia" bassist. I live in south Jersey.

Hopefully more bassists from our area say "hey" in this thread. It would be really cool to have a south Jersey, southeast PA, north DE TalkBass gathering of some kind.

And hopefully more of us Jerseydelphians will make our presence known.

Tool tribute sounds awesome. And with so many venues shutting their doors (e.g. Dobbs, Troc), it's nice to see that Kung Fu Necktie is still doing its thing.

As for me, I'm currently involved in a mostly studio project so no gigs on tap yet. At least not till the album is done.

My most recent live performance was emceeing a leadership/advocacy conference for special needs students back in May. I capped off by playing my bass along with the song "Dare" by Stan Bush. That was my first live performance since parting ways with my prior band in 2015. I could not keep up with their relentless rehearsal, gigging, and touring schedule.

Thanks!

And it's good to hear there are still loads of cool places to catch live bands. All the smaller divey "no-name" places were always more fun to play than the Troc or more established venues.

I haven't been out to a show in years, but now that I'm playing again I definitely have the itch to go out to shows again.

I played at the opening event for the King of Prussia Mall. Does that date me? Lol. No longer live in the Philly area, haven't for many years, but I am so thankful to have discovered my love for music, gigging , R&B, hanging out in Fairmount for Love Inns, the original Elec Factory and WMMR FM. Ahhhhhh :)

The place has changed a bit... KoP has grown, MMR still rocks, YSP not so much. And Fishtown is now the place to be, if you can believe that.

When I used to play in a punk band, the Philly basement show scene was fantastic. Some of my fondest memories were playing in filthy punk basements. There was also one show we played at an abandoned warehouse that was pretty interesting.

Fishtown's great. Last time I was there was for an art show at the Black Vulture Gallery. I bought an artbook by tattooist Dave Fox there and it's one of my most prominent coffee table books. Dude was also a sick guitarist. His old band Curse of Samsara straight up ripped!

Dammit, I can only hit "LIKE" once! Seriously, I can't overemphasize how much of an impact that album had on my musical journey! No joke…I was just riffing that song mere minutes ago after slappin' on a new set of strings on my current parts-bass projekt.

Good choice, by the way, to pass on a little inspiration to kids and young adults who need it.

I, too, am in the area (Northern Delaware) and would love to go to an indoor get-together. While I don't gig and my chops are sub-par, it would be cool to drag out a bunch of my projekts I've assembled over the years for other TB'ers perusal. If some event is gonna go down, and as long as there's no scheduling conflict, I'm up for it.

How have I not posted in this thread before?
Montgomery County PA here, although I have projects from Reading PA to Trenton NJ, and I have some open mikes in DE I've been trying to make time for.
I am 'centrally located' by which is meant it's a 100-mi roundtrip to anywhere...

Awesome!

I loved Stan Bush's Dare and The Touch when I was a kid because Transformers was everything, and those songs always stuck with me as my "lift me up when I'm down" songs. And I felt like the lyrics to Dare perfectly encapsulated the vibe that the people organizing the conference were looking to instill in everyone there.

And as an aside, yeah, a TB gathering in our neck of the woods would be cool. I know there's more of us out there.

I remember back in 2012, I was in a punk band and at one basement show at my then-guitarist's house we met a couple of cool punk kids from Harrisburg who were trying to start up a DIY venue there to bring the Philly punk music out to them. I don't think their dream ever happened, but I had to respect them making the effort to get out to Philly, get involved in the DIY punk scene, and try to bring some of that to their neck of the woods.

And when I played in an alt-metal band from 2012- 2015, one of our favorite venues to play was out near Harrisburg. It was a place called Gullifty's in Camp Hill. Awesome stage, killer food, super cool people. I hear the place closed its doors. Pity. We may have only played there 3 or 4 times, but every time it was always one of our best shows and always worth the trek. And a ton of really cool bands have come through there.

Yeah gulliftys was one of the last true venues for local music, and I am glad to have been able to play it on several occasions. It reopened last year under different ownership, and that lasted up until about five weeks ago when it closed for good with no warning nor explanation.

Good luck with that! Haven't played at Bourbon & Branch - couple of projects looked at it.
But Saturday I'm jamming with a guy to see if we want to proceed with a project we've talked about, and Sunday I have my premiere with a new project at Laurita's Winery in NJ so after I'm back from Saturday's jam I'll have to go practice some more...
