Just hoping to start up a friendly conversation about PJ Basses. What do you think are the best sounding, easiest playing PJ basses at 3 different price points. 1 Entry level, 2 Mind range (lets say around $1000), 3 high end. And if we can, let's keep it to Basses that are available in most major cities, and are current or recent production.
for me
1. Yamaha TRBX174 or RBX170. The entry level basses have come so far since I started playing in the 80's. Today you can find handfuls of entry level PJ basses at every GC. But often they sound thin, and lack a real p-bass thud. The Yamahas decent and are an excellent value
2. G&L SB-2: There are some good PJ's out there at this price, but if you can get a G&L SB-2 for $1100 (on sale at GC now) your killing them all. I have played other's Fender, ESP, Schecter and Warwick but the G&L has the best tone, and I love the neck.
3. Spector Euro4 LX: I do not own this bass, but I've played it a few times. Yes sometimes I suffer under the delusion that I'm Doug Wimbish and this is my weapon of choice.
