Greetings TalkBass,

I was wondering if anyone had tips for playing a violin shaped bass, especially when sitting down, using a pick.

Here's what I'm struggling with:

1. neck dive
2. non-rounded corner digging into ribs
3. non-rounded corner digging into forearm
4. bass sits lower on lap due to the smaller body, which effects both hands. I find myself hunching my back, bringing myself lower down to the bass to compensate.

Thanks so much!

A strip of Neoprene padding on the upper edge will make it more comfy & grippy.

A firm cushion on or folded hand towel over your thigh will raise the height of the bass.

Attach the strap to the end piece. Place the strap under your thigh and sit on it with enough tension to help reduce neck dive.
