Playing Jaco lines fingerstyle on a Bass VI... ouch! (Continuum)

It looks like string spacing on a Bass VI is something that has already been addressed in the past (Bass VI string spacing) but today I just did a video of something I stubbornly wanted to do: play a bass solo with the pizzicato technique and "standard" fingering on my Bass VI instrument!

Boy is that spacing narrow, but it's doable with some perseverance and I love the versatility of that instrument:

The funniest thing (and feel) was to play it on a "regular" bass afterwards!

Nice tone you get fro you VI... what are those pickups?

I'm still playing with the idea of a fretless bass VI, still not sure I I will go that way though..

They are "Entwistle designed" alnico P90s. As one can probably guess, the pickups are one of the strong points of an instrument supervised by Alan Entwistle. Needless to say, he didn't touch a single magnet there, of course.

I used the bridge pickup. Going through Amplitube, SVT CL head model + Acoustic 361 cab model (yes...), mic'd with a blend of close and distant mic models, chorus, delay and some stacked compressors in the DAW.

A fretless bass VI would be interesting, but quite frustrating when you switch to "guitar mode"
