Playing style?

I have been wondering what the name of the style ive been practicing and writing music in on bass is called. I have been playing what I would class finger style over chords to create a kind of rhythmic melody line, which I am having great fun doing. But have hit a wall with it. I want to find new ways to expand this style, but have no idea of the correct name or terminology for this style. If anyone knows the answer to this or has any tips it would be much appriciated!
