Port and Chocolate

I prefer getting my fortified wine from the convenience store:

and serving it with gummy bears

I've tried a few ports, while wine tasting at various wineries in Eastern Washington.
No thanks.

Chocolate though? I'll take some Hershey's any day, or local favorite Theo.

It is indeed a good combo, and I also enjoy pairing dark beers with chocolate (especially Belgians).

Funny story about port: a friend of mine's wife will only drink the super cheap stuff. Like the 5.99 a bottle kind you find in any market. And she'll drink regular size wine glass servings of it. Talk about a hangover...

Out of curiosity Kess, were you a port drinker before? What port did you use? Dark chocolate? Color me intrigued :)
I've had port before and enjoyed it, but got more interested in it lately, not entirely sure why. Grabbed a very dark chocolate with hazelnuts from Trader Joe's and a decent ruby port. And it was a very happy combination.
I'm no connoisseur yet. More like a commonsewer.

Hmmm...I thought the 10 Year stuff was the "cheap stuff" at $20.00 a bottle. $5.99 Port? Red flag hangover warning.

My Tawny 10's never give me a hangover, and I finish the bottle within a few hours of opening it.

I'd roll with chocolate covered strawberries :) Hrmm looks like a trip to the store is in my future. . .
