Precision PUP routing on a J-Bass

Hey all,

Are there any complications that might want to stop one from trying to buy a MIM Jazz Bass and route out the neck pup to make room for a precision pickup? I assume I would need to match the output of each pup and create some extra room in the neck pup cavity, but otherwise it should be pretty easy, no?

Leave the pick guard on and rout the body and guard together.

it might look something like this then... that unnecessary hole would annoy me

these basses have the P pickup a little closer to the neck than the original P position (which may be a good thing if you go for a PJ sound).

The only pickguards I know of that have the routing in the traditional P position are the ones from Warmoth.
