Presonus M7 Microphone questions

I have some questions regarding the Presonus M7 Microphone. Will it work by phantom power just being plugged into the xlr line to our sound system? Also is this a good mic that will pickup voices? Specifically if I set it on a table that is about about 12 ft by 6 ft would it pickup and record all of the voices of people sitting around the table?

I know this isn't a bass related question, but I am hoping someone has some experience and knowledge with this microphone to help out.
