Hi all,
Just ordered a Providence Vandal Bass Distortion for $100 used.
Anyone know anything about them?
I had never seen one before and for $100 I thought why not, might as well give it a try...

Anyone have one? Or tried one out...
I had a search on YouTube and nothing on there...

Is it possible this is the Providence version of the Free The Tone bb2? If it's anywhere close you just scored big time!

"Free the tone bass blaster" Gear

I have a TRex Chameleon that has 12v AC, will this damage it?
I would have thought it would be okay.

Power supplies don't "push" voltage and current into devices.

Devices "DRAW" voltage amd current in as needed.

(There are exceptions but not in the pedal world I would imagine.)

You should be fine.

The main thing is the current rating (usually in mA or miliamps). Make sure the power supply either matches or exceeds the pedal's current requirements in current output.

I thought volts push while amps draw....

Probably no need to get into an Ohm's Law discussion here. For the purposes of this discussion, OP should be fine running a 12V AC supply into a 9V device.

Most 120V devices have a fairly wide range of what they can work with. Some are more sensitive than others.

I have measured voltages as low as 108 and as high as 127. And my amps worked with all of them.

Well, it is st least a week until it arrives, so in the meantime I have reached out to the designer at Free the Tone, hopefully he is happy to answer the voltage question.
Worth asking, did feel a bit guilty asking him about another company though

Well the Vandal is here....
And it appears to be the best dirt Pedal I have ever tried.
I have owned Grombass, Darkglass VMT Dlx and AO, Elements, and the BETA DLx and this seems more musical and pleasant while been full on nasty

Goes from light OD to full on face melting fuzz, so I guess it is not the same guts as the Bass Blaster, from my understanding the Bass Blaster is more in overdrive territory, with the Vandal the OD is only it the first 10% on the gain knob, then Distortion up to about 60% then fuzz territory.
All settings of dirt sound great.

Like the Bass Blaster, harmonics really stand out and the sustain seems to go on forever, holds the note beautifully.

I think it will be my only dirt pedal I use from now on.

I will try and add a video as I plan to do some bass tracks in a recording studio in a couple of weeks, so will try to get some samples of the pedal there.

I’m off to do a little more Vandalism!!!
