Question about Seymour Duncan SRB-1 (Rickenbacker) pickup wiring

I just recently bought a Harley Benton RB-414 after three previous missed opportunities. I like the playability of it, but I definitely plan to replace the pickups.

I’ve read reviews on Seymour Duncan's Ric replacement pickups, some of which say that they are hotter and more low-mid-centered than stock Rickenbacker pickups and don’t sound that much like the real thing. However, one thing I’m curious about is the wiring. Seeing as how these are 4-conductor humbuckers, I’m going off the assumption that most people wire the pickups in series, which brings me to my question:

Has anybody ever tried wiring the pickups in parallel with good results? Theoretically, they should sound closer to single-coil pickups when wired this way. I would like to know before I spend the money on these pickups.
