I have been a long time user of the TI Flats and love them for my main bass. However ive been wanting to go with rounds for my other bass. Can someone describe the Jazz rounds and Power Bass rounds for me? How are they tension wise and tone wise compared to the flats?

I'm a YUGE fan of the Jazz rounds. They are very light so that takes a bit of getting used to. They don't seem as flexible as the TI flats but they certainly aren't what I'd call firm. They are pretty mellow for rounds but still have some bite to them. They are by far my favorite string because of their versatility. Sonically to my ear they fall somewhere between rounds and flats but don't sound like "dead" rounds.

The TI PowerBass are very flexible, perhaps not as much as TI Flats, but still very flexible. They have a fairly bright, edgy sound initially, then after not long at all become very deep and warm.

I think they are great quality strings, although not my personal favorite.

Here's a sound clip with them brand new:

and about six weeks old:

I hadn't played them very much over those six weeks; it seems that most of the tonality change occurred with them just stretched out on the bass, just sitting there.

I did try the TI Jazz Rounds once, but I don't remember a great deal about them. I found the tiny gauges off-putting, though I've read others be quite found of them.

I started a thread similar to this. I like the tone of the jazz rounds, but I just know that gauge is to small for me. I've been using TI flats now for over a year and love them, but I am also super interested in the powerbass strings because 1. They sound good and 2. The gauge is heavier, but I hear the tension isn't all that bad. plus the way they mellow out from that six week old clip kind of reminds me of a flatwound kinda tone I'm cool with that because ill just have them on for longer.

Kick-starting this thread to ask if anyone can tell me how smooth the Power Bass feels compared to the Jazz Rounds? Haven't tried the Power Bass but really dig the extra small wire wrap on the Jazz Rounds and how super smooth they feel.
