Check the EQ -- everything flat. There is no such thing as hype with an SVT through an 810. It's all true. Goodness gracious.

There's a private club in Auckland where my old band played a couple of times https://www.backbeat.nz/
They have an Ampeg 8x10 and SVT? head (as well as a drum kit / guitar & keyboard amps and full PA)

The first time I plugged my bass into that amp I almost had an orgasm..... it was THAT good
but as Basscliff pointed out - I wouldn't want to haul one around...and it wouldn't fit in the back of my Mazda 3 anyway!

It’s a warmoth build. Didn’t put together a build thread, but I’ve been planning to.

Swamp ash tele split p body that I finished in white Osmo oil — really cool hand rubbed finish and easy to do at home. Neck is unfinished roasted maple with a jazz taper. Pickups are Geezers. I am in love with it.

Haha - awesome. It was the Acadia Music Festival in Thibodaux. Other side of the Atchafalaya Basin from Lake Charles. It’s an hour drive from New Orleans, and coincidentally, the town I grew up in. This was the festival’s 4th year. It’s been fun to watch it grow up.

I’ve been playing rock and blues in south Louisiana since high school — it seems like there’s a lot of respect for different genres down here. How was the reception for the Celtic stuff?

And depending on the year, there’s a good chance they weren’t speaking English.

Thanks, have no idea what Osmo oil is; need to look that up on the web. I thought it was Mary Kay finish.

Is the neck with steel or carbon fiber stiffing rods? If steel, do you notice any neck heaviness. Do you have carbon fiber necks to compare? I wish Warmoth would just dump the steel rods and switch to carbon fiber as default.

Reason for asking is that I've been thinking for a couple of years to do what you did, but with a custom pickguard that's a cross between the old Precision and the current one (i.e. remove the upper horn section, but keep the tele like control plate.

Maybe no pickguard, just the tele-like control plate if that would look good.

Steel rods in the neck. That’s where I compromised for budget reasons. Weight and neck dive are not an issue, especially with a leather strap. I also have hipshot ultra lite tuners.

Osmo oil is an all natural German floor wax. I hadn’t heard of it either. A buddy of mine who’s a handyman had a can and suggested it.

Pretty good considering. The festival had been held in New Orleans for years but it was the year after Katrina and their old venue had been lost, so off to Lake Charles. Attendance was down as a result but the audiences were very appreciative. There was a female band flown in from the Isle of Man, a band of Galician (Spanish Celts) immigrants to the US and we were doing music from Brittany (French Celts) so it was more than just Irish and Scottish.

It will be one of the disappointments of my life that while I grew up near the Louisiana line in TX, I never got to live in South Louisiana ( . . . . pronounced 'LoozeeAnna' for our foreign readers ). Great people, great food, and they love to have a party and dance. NOLA I can take or leave, but drop me anywhere between Baton Rouge and the TX line along IH-10 and I'm happy.
