Rad bass art (as in art *on* the body of a bass)

Last June I commissioned an amazing artist called Mathias Chau to do some work on a couple of my basses. It was a waiting list of a year before I could drop off the bodies and then a few months of work before I got them back last week. Suffice it to say they are *so* rad. Couldn't be happier. It's a Fender Deluxe Jazz and an EBMM Stingray 5 btw.

He was super easy and fun to work with. Highly recommended...although the wait is now more than 2 years.

Ya I'm not much of a social media guy but Mathias' Insta is a very satisfying follow. So much cool stuff.

Is the paint oil based, acrylic, or something else? Are they sealed after the art is done or will it wear with time? Ballpark for the work, $500 a piece? Higher or lower?
