Cute. I know dumping on Pokemon Go is a cottage industry now and lots of fun. But actually, I think it's a brilliant idea. It's got a lot of screen-addicted couch potatoes out in the fresh air taking a walk for a change (including my own teenagers). It turns out my wife's library is a "gym" so they're playing up the Pokemon theme and attracting a set of people into the library who otherwise barely darken its door. A percentage of them may even realize it's a cool place and (gasp) check out a book.
Yes, how dare people do something they enjoy that also encourages to go outside, get exercise, and socialize.
Didn't mean to offend, or derail. I'll delete the post.Yes, how dare people do something they enjoy that also encourages to go outside, get exercise, and socialize.
On topic, I love Pokemon Go, I was in my early teens when the show, cards, and original game boy games came out, so this is like renewing my childhood.
I think there needs to be some kind of safety parameters built into the game though. I almost hit a teenage girl with my Jeep two weeks ago as she was clearly following a Pokemon on her phone's screen and walked right onto Yonge St (Toronto's busiest city street) while not paying attention to the traffic at all.
Quite literally the first loading screen screams "pay attention you dolt", problem is that people think that if they stare hard enough at the screen something wonderful will pop up, usually its a wall or street sign or 70mph traffic.I think there needs to be some kind of safety parameters built into the game though. Yeah, a warning at the beginning isn't good enough. There's warning labels all over cigarette packs (in Canada anyway), but that hardly changes a thing...Quite literally the first loading screen screams "pay attention you dolt", problem is that people think that if they stare hard enough at the screen something wonderful will pop up, usually its a wall or street sign or 70mph traffic.
As for the people shaming the game, its a sad sad state of affairs to do make other people's happiness diminish due to "uncoolitude". I've been playing Pokemon since they came out on the old school Elephant gray and thick gameboy. Playing this version was a no-brainer.
