This is probably going to be another one of those forehead-smacking things, where I go "why didn't I think of that", but here goes.

All I want is some kind of bluetooth thingie that I can hook up to my flatscreen TV, so it can broadcast the audio about 15 feet to where I sit. I have a Bose Soundlink Mini speaker that has a headphone output. I want to watch TV with headphones, instead of the TV's speakers. If I can get the TV's sound to my Soundlink Mini, I could easily plug in my headphones and hear the audio part of my TV show.

My TV is just an inexpensive small flatscreen, but it has two RCA jacks for the audio-output. I would guess that the RCA jacks are what would plug into the bluetooth thingie.

Can anyone suggest something I could buy, without breaking the bank too much?

Ahh, that looks like it would work just fine. I already have a stereo Y-cable that would fit the 1/8" stereo plug. The website shows various models...I'll take a look. Thank you so much! I appreciate it.

My suggestion is to stick to Bose but get the money for a soundbar with a subwoofer. You won't regret it!

I have what you listed and what I suggested.

Thanks. But as you read in my original post, I want to use my headphones, so I don't want a soundbar. I'm sure they appeal to some people, though!

Hmm, Bluetooth has inherent latency, so if you're watching video, the vocals will be lagging their mouth's movement.
Oh crap, really? If that's the case, I wouldn't like it at all. Maybe an FM transmitter of some kind on the TV end of the equation, instead of Bluetooth...??

Did you consider they might sell some that allows you to also use headphones?

Yes, I did. But I need to use my own headphones, not a new pair. Actually, I need to use my own single earbud (not headphones). The reason is that I was born deaf in my left ear. I use a single earbud that I bought from a cycling supply store which combines the left and right channels into a single summed mono signal, for my good ear. With stereo headphones, I only hear half of what's going on.

So.... it would be convenient for me to find some kind of transmitter to plug my TV's sound output RCA jacks into. I had thought I could just use my Bose Sounlink mini speaker for a receiver, because it has a stereo headphone jack, which I could plug in my special earbud. But as KBD pointed out, bluetooth has inherent latency so it might not be as ideal as I had thought.

At this point I'm thinking I might just buy a long headphone extension cord from Radio Shack. Oh wait, Radio Shack is out of business...
