Recommended acoustic bass?

Bump for the Dean/Ibanez crowd to chime in.

If you're looking to buy new, check Thonmann - Dean, Ibanez, Harley Benton in your price range.
For travel, a smaller bodied ABG might be something to consider; you'll sacrifice acoustic volume though if that's important.
There's also smaller scale ABG's as well...
Guitar Scale Acoustic Basses

Thanks. Always been a fan of Ibanez so I'll have a look there.

If you're talking about great plugged-in tone, an acoustic with the best electronics made, I'd recommend an older Exotica, but since I don't think you are, you might like this.
Sounds good unplugged and it's deceptively loud.
No, you don't have to buy a Hawaiian shirt, but expect a few raised eyebrows and the occasional joke.

I'll have a look, thanks. Willing to accept raised eyebrows

I have a Fender acoustic bass CB60SCE.
It was an impulsive buy, in other word it was a mistake:D IMO it's an okay bass.

Unplugged it's not loud. It sounds much better plugged and I like the tone, but then the string noise becomes irritating.

So, I always play it unplugged, and I only play it every now and then, just noodling with it.

To me it really depends on what you want to do.

An ABG won't keep up with an acoustic guitar in an unplugged setting. You would be better off with an electric plugged into a small combo at lower volume.

Only thing I can of that would keep up in that setting would be a Kala or small guitar bodied/scaled bass.

For just playing around the house or to have something you can keep by the couch and not wanting to be plugged in, I 2nd the Ibanez/Dean suggestion. Or even the Harley Benton from Thomann. Seeing as you're across the pond you will get a great deal on shipping and find something well under £200.

So these are really all the same reasons why I own an acoustic guitar to fiddle on and not an electric. :D
