Hey everyone,
I don't usually post anything I just silent troll over different and interesting threads! Anyways I have read through a couple different threads in regards to Online Lessons, but it would appear they are at least a year old or more at least what I read through anyways, plus I'm not really finding what I'm looking for. Basically what I'm looking for is something that would help in improving my skill level not only in the fret-board which I'm weak in, but also knowing what key to play a song in, how to actually use notes instead of patterns to construct a song, applying theory to songs instead knowing theory on one hand and knowing songs on the other hand, how to play a song a song in a audition on the fly (which I guess would be ear training).

I've looked over the following links but still not sure who I should go with:

I have had a couple students who were using Scott's paid program. It seemed to be pretty good.

I am always a big fan of @markjsmithbass 's videos, very informative. I don't know anybody who has taken any paid lessons from him though.

Both are TBers although I don't think either post much these days. I cannot remember Scott's handle for a tag either.

Those are all excellent sites. If I personally had to single out one in particular to recommend, it would be "Talking Bass.net".

Another excellent site that you have not listed is :StudyBass - Free Online Bass Lessons

The YouTube has a lot of great tips on technique. If you have specific techniques you want to learn just do a YouTube search and go through a few to see which works best for you. There's a variety for any style of learning. I like the short videos that are to the point, and demonstrate quickly, with some licks that I can incorporate in my own music.

Truefire on Youtube is just one that has a lot of good tutorials simple and to the point. It may be old, but these techniques are forever.

Also, if you like music, and plan to play music learn the history of the bass for the music you like. It will show you what has been done so that you can follow that path to success. IMO nothing is more boring than wasting my time being taught licks and songs that don't interest me. Find the tutorials that have the music content you like, so you can incorporate it in your songwriting, and music creation.

IMHO applied theory is not something that you can learn from a video.
someone explaining the theory for you is unlikely to turn on the light bulb inside your head.
The understanding comes form reverse engineering parts you like
and asking what each note is doing in relationship to the whole
until you hit that 'aha' moment where you understand the role of the riff within the context of the changes /song.
it's that 'aha' moment that you actually lean from

so grab a chart for a song you've learned, and get theorizing.

Thanks for the reply's, and sorry I didn't get back sooner as I had some e-mail issues that was causing problems logging in, posting etc.
Anyway, I found this on TalkBass which should help in what I'm looking for, and actually noticed " mambo4 has it attached to his sig.

Also I have had music lessons for about a year and a half, so I do have some idea about music. And although I learned some things other things I couldn't grasp, and I have some gaps I'd like to fill. So that's why I was considering online lessons.
