There are good deals to be found on Reverb, but also a ton of inflated pricing. I usually have most luck making an offer on something, but even then it’s a mixed bag and a lot of stuff is priced on the higher side.

As noted above fees on Reverb can be pretty high for sellers, so I think that is reflected in the pricing in a lot of cases.

I don't see how anyone can consider the fees to be high. They raised them to only 5% instead of three. That's still the lowest that I know for any music friendly market place by far. I believe eBay is in the teens. A paltry 2% rise in the fees should not cause prices to go into stratospheric levels.

The real problem is that people are stubborn and think that what they have is worth more than it is.

Reverb charges a 5% Reverb Selling Fee plus a separate payment processing fee of around ~2.7%. If a seller uses the “bump” feature multiple additional percentage points in fees can be tacked on top of that.

For comparison, if you sell here on talkbass classifieds you only pay whatever payment processing fees exist for your chosen payment method (i.e. PayPal, closer to ~3%). For that reason I prefer to sell on TB. Not saying marketplaces like eBay are any better, if at all, but Reverb fees can add up along with shipping. Also not saying it justifies exorbitant pricing either though, a lot of the pricing on Reverb is still ridiculous.
