Hey guys, are there any of you who have done this?? The reverse P pups where the one pup is forward more on the D and G and the E and A is over the one that's further back....

How did you fill the existing cavity? I think I'm going to do this to one of my FrankenSquiers to see if I like it. It doesn't seem all that difficult but then again, maybe it is...?? Maybe there is a "how-to" thread or a thread where someone shared when they did theirs?

It's actually pretty common. For example, Ibanez have been doing it for many years in all sorts of models.

There's no need to fill. Just use a new pickguard.

I haven't looked under the hood of that Squier I'd be doing it to for a while. Can't remember quite what the route looks like. But are they typically routed that far out?? And do you know of a place that sells the reverse pickguards?

The first one I did was a conversion from a standard P-clone to a reverse P. I just left the cavity empty, and it didn't cause any problems.

Reverse P's are the stuff bass dreams are made of.

Yeah I never gave it much thought then I heard how it sounded sonwhere in passing a YouTube vid and I was like damn that makes a huge and awesome difference! So I'm kinda stoked to try it. Just wanted to see what some others' experinces were with actually doing it and if it was tricky. Doesn't seem to be that hard

Yeah, just be careful. It starts with an innocent, simple, seemingly innocuous reverse P conversion, then eventually leads to this: NBD: Double Reverse P

:D

I left the E/A coil in its standard position, where it would be on a standard P, and moved the D/G coil toward the neck. I wanted to preserve the meatiness of the E/A coil where it usually sits. I really like how it turned out; the D/G strings sound great with the pickup in that position.

In discussion with the Engineer @ Aero pickups, he says the reverse P is the "Schizz" to many. good you're thinking of it.

I still haven't done it, probably waiting for the weekend when I can take my time. But I have gotten it mapped out on the body. I'm going to leave the EA side where it is and move the DG to the other side of it. I'm really excited because I know how much of a difference pup placement can make.

It's not the prettiest job, but with a small electric dremal and a chisel, I don't think it turned out that bad :D plus it'll be covered anyway!

Anyone know of a site that sells pickguards that are reversed or will I have to make my own???
