Hi folks, hoping this question is in the appropriate forum. I currently use a crossover (rolls SX21) to split my signal into two signal chains and use a wounded paw blender/mixer to combine the two signals before hitting the amp.

Does the ric-o-sound function as a signal splitter with a fixed crossover point? Would using one instead of the Rolls basically serve the same function, only i have no control over where the crossover is set?

ROS is just a box to convert a TRS cable to two separate outputs, one for the T, the other for the R. The intended use is on ROS equipped instruments so that the neck (R) and bridge (T) pickups go to separate signal chains/amps.

Hope this helps.

thanks for your response. so the ROS splits into two full range signals, just each has a different eq emphasis due to the pickups and their location? This would differ from the Rolls then since the high output coming from it would only be feeding the pedals in that chain a weaker signal, since they're only being sent a signal, say, 120hz and higher.

I could use a ROS box, or any signal splitter for that matter then, no?

This is what a Rick-O-Sound box is. This is not an authentic one, but it's as close as I could find on Google Images.

As you can see, it's just a splitter. There are no crossovers, or anything of that sort. It merely takes a "stereo" signal and turns it into two "mono" signals.
