Just wanted to share a band that I've really been into for a few years.
Many of you may know about them but if by chance you don't I highly recommend you check out Riverside. They're a prog band from Poland with an awesome sound.

They often get described as a cross between Pink Floyd & Tool but they definitely have their own sound.
Mariusz Duda is an amazing musician whose bass lines are thick and juicy.
Really great band

Agreed - I *really* enjoy their music, plus Duda's side project Lunatic Soul. I do wonder about the band's future sound since the passing of the guitarist. Duda certainly seems to be the driving force behind Riverside but it isn't clear what form they will continue in post "Eye of the Soundscape."

Edit: but I gotta say-I don't get the Floyd comparison at all. Maybe the more melodic Porcupine Tree or Steven Wilson solo stuff. I find myself surprised every so often to find that a line that seems so natural in a Riverside song is in some odd time signature. It doesn't stick out the way it does in some other bands' songs.

Yeah, not sure how they'll go on.
They chose not to bring on another guitarist and I believe Eye of the Soundscape is basically made up of previously recorded material.
Thanks for the tip on LunaticSoul. I vaguely remember seeing the band name somewhere but haven't looked into them unil now. Some interesting stuff there.

As far as the Floyd comparison, I don't totally get it either but I hear hints of it from time to time.
