A new journey begins for us. We still have to "sell" the time machine bass (proceeds will go to MJF Parkinson's Foundation), but wanted to go ahead and get parts on order for the next project which will be a combination theme including steampunk and hot-rod vehicle elements. We will not directly copy the Mad Max Fury Road flamethrower guitar, but it has been and will be a source of inspiration as we design ours.
All major parts on order from Warmoth, Nordstrand, Babicz and Hipshot.
Headstocks on both necks will be Warmoth Warheads (of course!). Guitar side will be right hand reverse so that all tuners are outward facing.
Pickups will include Bonecrusher (of course!), Shush Puppy for guitar and a Zen blade along with a traditional P pickup for the bass side.
Z-Series Bridges from Babicz which we are excited to try out for the first time. We usually use original Babicz. The Z series are smaller leaving more room for theme stuff.
Hipshot tuners are Clover head Ultralights though the weight of this one is going to be crazy. Will also have an Xtender on the bass side.
I wonder if we could get Elon Musk to donate a "Not a Flamethrower"?
By the way, I should mention that our neck plate supplier LazrArt funded the excess materials cost of this one. Even with help from supplier/sponsors on parts cost, this one is crazy expensive and without the cash contributed by LazrArt we would not have even started on a doubleneck. As an example, the freaking gig bag alone was $160 (!) but it's pretty necessary.
Bridges showed up this week, so we'll start posting some early stage pictures pretty soon.
Stay tuned!
