Rob with Just For Kicks-St. Robert's Festival 9/15/17

This is the first gigging band I joined and left a couple years ago. We did a reunion gig for the St. Robert's Festival. This is not your usual benefit gig. The BL goes to this church, put his daughter through the school here, a few of my cousins & my parents go here too, my father's funeral services were held here and the BL and Ron came to my dad's funeral, and the drummer is known by many of the people who put on this event. The BL stopped booking the band last year, but the organizers asked if we could still do it, so we accepted.

It was loose and we made through the songs. Here's shot of the food and stage area:

My rig for the night. The load in and out sucks so I'm keeping it simple, SWR 4x10, Mesa D800, Alembic Essence.

Drummer Roger. You'll never meet a bigger Elvis and Three Stooges fan. I missed hanging with him, he's a really funny guy

The sound was OK at first and then it got really loud and crunchy about half way through the first set. The 2nd set was short because we only at until 10pm. The music was ok though, about as good as I expected with the low pressure of it.

Oh yeah, the tri-tip steak sandwiches for the band! Could have had a beer but went with the Diet Coke.

Hi Mr. Bottom,

I really like playing church carnivals. I usually play two or three every summer. Good clean fun! I hope you enjoyed getting together with your old band mates. I know I do. (With my old band mates, not yours. Oh, nevermind.) I think your stage was brilliant and added to the festivities. I like your rig too. I've played an Alembic only once and they are fine instruments. Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed that.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

Wow, I almost missed your gig report... I play better when there's a crowd listening and you had them, the roast beef looked delicious, thank you. Nice bass rig Good job ;)
