Hi all.
Joined to ask this one question but I'm sure I'll be a silent observer for a while.

Any Rotosound TruBass RS88 users out there (black nylon)? And has anyone experienced a buzz in the open G string?
Well in my case its any position on the G really. Not fret buzz but it's almost like the tape winding has come loose??? It's loudest down by the bridge. Muting the string dulls the buzz but its still there.

I've been playing these strings for a few months now without any issue. Bass sat in the corner of my living room for a couple weeks untouched. When I picked it up the other night that's when I noticed the buzz.
It's really weird. I'm not sure if this is common or what I'm experiencing.

Any thoughts?

PS, I'm kind of a noob when it comes to playing. I used to play a lot years ago but I've just recently picked up the bass again. If this is a commonly discussed issue then I'm unaware of it and apologize for clogging the forum.

Good first post and welcome to TalkBass @Okors. Sure sounds like a string gone bad to me. Take it in to a reputable luthier or technician for evaluation. They can go hands on and tell you in ten seconds what's what.

Just thought I'd follow up w/ a solution.

Yep, string(s) gone bad. The D and G. Not sure why. I hadn't really played that much and certainly not hard (practice in the living room that's about it).
Anyway I slapped a new pair of D and G strings on and problem gone.
