Hey all! So I'm not new to this whole bass world by any means, but have been wondering this for a while. Since I got my Spectorcore Fretless 5, I've had it strung up with black nylon tapewound strings from D'Addario. They sound and feel fantastic, but this bass has a Fishman piezo bridge that just does not work with the tapes, so I only had the one regular pickup in use.
Now I have it strung with some ProSteels and the piezo bridge works, but the strings are far too bright for the sound I want this bass to produce. Sure I can roll off the treble and shape the tone that way, but I lose a lot more than I want. Of coures I can just play the hell out of the strings but they're still not close to the sound of the tapes I had on before. Which were exactly what I wanted.
So the question is, are there any roundwound strings out there that function with the Fishman Piezo bridge that sound like tapewounds?
