Router Bit choices - Truss rod channel

Hey Folks,

Happy Friday to you all!

I'm shopping router bits for cutting 1/4" truss rod channels... I've got 2 necks I'll cut over the next few months, and wondered if I could get by with some of the $10ish regular straight bits, or should check out some of the spiral up-cut variety? I'm going to install the low profile Korean blue type 4mm hex rods.

I'm extremely cost conscious (funds are not over flowing, lets just say it that way).

Here are some I've been looking at that are available locally:

Shop Bosch 1/4-in Solid Carbide Upcut Spiral Bit at Lowes.com

Shop IRWIN Marples 1/4-in Carbide-tipped Straight Bit at Lowes.com

Diablo 1/4 in. x 1 in. Carbide Up Spiral Router Bit-DR75102 - The Home Depot

Thanks for any feedback you might have to offer :)

I use a 1/4" straight bit. The first one I bought was a 1/4" shaft bit from Whiteside. Over the years, I misused it and burned it. I replaced it with a 1/2" shaft straight bit from Rocker (their house brand). Both bits worked fine.

Awesome thanks!!

I bought this cheaper HF one for almost nothing and it might work out (if I'm lucky) - I'll practice a few cuts to see...
