I'm practicing some basic recording stuff, and figured it would be more fun if there was some tangible output, so I decided to do a few Rush covers, because Rush.
I have posted a few in various spots around TB, and then it occured to me that maybe I should just do a thread and link them in the first post. I will update this post with new stuff if anybody cares, or even if nobody does.
Animate: Monday and my first song of the week. Really fun to play using my own oddball adaptation of Geddy's flamenco-ish strumming thing (minus the fingernails). Played with a Fender US Geddy into a Tech21 GED-2112 direct. Picture in the video shows the settings. One take because I really needed to take the time to figure out the workflow to get from Pro Tools to YouTube.
Time Stand Still: Tuesday was all about the Wal. I used the same settings on the GED-2112 as the Animate recording above, so the sound is a little thicker and grittier than the original recording. I adjusted the volumes for the two channels on the GED-2112 a little differently than on the previous recording, but not by much. Also one take, because mistakes keep me humble.
Red Barchetta: On Wednesday I was inspired by a video that came through my Twitter machine about why Limelight is such a great song, and that got me to put my VT-Bass back into my rack and try and get that more classic tone from the Moving Pictures era. I recorded Red Barchetta on Wednesday, but spent tonight figuring out how to do a few punch-ins and programmed a fade out at the end. So it's not one take. Picture in the video shows the settings used.
