Hi!

My new Harley Benton BZ-4000 NT from Thomann has arrived. It sounded good for about a week and then, while playing, I heard a somewhat loud pop sound and rustling sound began escorting every note I played. This bass has the ability to switch from active to passive and it appears that the rustling effect only occurs while in active mode regardless of the EQ, volume or tone knobs.
Sometimes there are moments where it does suddenly sound well but then the rustling is back, shattering my hope that the problem has been solved on its own.
Changing the batteries (there are two for this bass) solved the problem for a minute but then the rustling came back.

I don't know what to do. Any advice?

Contact Thomann?

Sounds like a bad solder joint or part in the active circuitry. Perhaps they will send you a new preamp.

Thanks for the reply :)

I did send a message – sadly they won't answer yet due to the holidays.
Say they send a pre-amp, how do I install it? Does it require soldering? If so, does it take high skills to get it done?

Sorry, I can't help you with that since I don't own one and have never even seen one.

Soldering is not particularly difficult. If you've never done it before it's a good idea to practice on something first.
