Sanding/Removing paint from hardware

Hey, i’m looking into buying a new guitar... but i want it with chrome instead of black hardware. If there is chrome under the black, would it be a good idea to sand the bridge, knobs, and tuning heads to chrome?

But, no, there is no chrome under the black. Chrome is it's own finish.

You would need to buy the version of the bass that already has chrome hardware. Or budget to replace the black hardware with chrome.
