Hi, I wanted to ask you about the pedal schematic but I have one of its nano version and when I check it the ceramic capacitor #17 is failing

I hope someone can help me, to be able to repair this pedal, and sorry if I cause something but I'm new and I don't want to ruin it either

Hi, how are you? I feel that if you are not going to contribute anything better not to comment, in shipping costs and time of said process it is not convenient for me because I am from Mexico, but thanks for nothing anyway
Well you're a delightful one. With those people skills you should have no problem getting the help you seek.

isallahlope, nobody knew you are in Mexico, your Talkbass location is "electronica". Posting an inquiry like yours on Talkbass will not be productive, as it is very unlikely that any regular user on Talkbass will have any wiring diagrams/schematics for any EHX equipment. Most of us are musicians, we aren't technicians.

There is at least one EHX employee on here - @mannysilvers - but I doubt Manny will encourage you to try to repair it yourself.

If the pedal doesn't work, and you don't want to pay for shipping for EHX to fix it, then buy a new pedal. They are $85 new, or you can find them on Reverb.com used for less.

What's going on here?

On my Bassballs Nano the 9V connector quit working. The pedal worked fine with the battery clip. So, I connected the 9V connector to the battery clip leads. It works fine now with the power supply. A hack repair, I know, but it works now.

Describe the problem in terms of behavior: When you turn it on, what kind of sound does it make? Does it happen when an instrument is not plugged in, or change when something is plugged in? Does it make no sound at all? Does it fail to turn on? What have you done to test the problem -- experiment with settings on the pedal, change battery or power supply, change cables, try different bass or amp to see if any of these things are interacting with the pedal in a particular way?

Capacitor #17 might be at fault, or there might be other components which are causing C17 to fail. Or maybe it's not failing at all, it just looks that way. A circuit can't be diagnosed from a photo, it's impossible for anybody to tell you what to do about this, particularly with what we currently know and see.

You might have better luck asking here:

You could check out the provided schematic for this one:

Big Fat Balls - Dynamic Bass Envelope Filter

It's supposedly "inspired by" the Bass Balls which I think usually means a clone. Probably "inspired by" the full size original Bass Balls though. If you have the electronic skills to diagnose this specific capacitor as faulty I'm sure you will also be able to identify any differences from the schematic. The PCB layout is completely different of course.

Without the proper tools it is very difficult to replace surface mounted parts. It is also very hard to find and re-install them. Maybe you are a tech?
I wish you luck, just be careful with it. Some better computer and cell phone repair places can do the work.

¿No enciende?
