I'm interested in having a custom P bass body built ala Olinto basses (1/2" thinner than "stock" p bass specs). In particular, I'm looking for someone who could build that P bass body with as high of grade flame maple top as I can source, looking to have it look something like this. Not really looking for recommendations (yet), just trying to learn the best way to accomplish getting the body I want built and figure out approximately what I'd be looking at. I'll have Pat Wilkins shoot the finish.

Thanks, everyone!

I'm not really sure what your question is?

Many of us Luthiers could build a custom body like that for you. What you are describing is not particularly exotic or difficult. Find a Luthier, explain what you want, and see if they are interested in taking the job.

My quick estimate for the job would be: $50 for the body wood, $200 for the flame maple top, $250 labor to build it. Total: around $500. Plus about $300 for Pat to paint it.

I've personally built many bodies like that, but I don't do custom work like that any more. I'm not quoting you, or interested in the job. This is just an estimate for your reference.

And per TalkBass rules, you shouldn't be openly "shopping for a Luthier" here in Luthier's Corner. So, don't expect any of us to step up and quote you right here. But if you see a project thread on here by a Luthier and you think they might be willing to do this job, you can PM them directly and ask. That's acceptable.

Much obliged for the information. I was actually hoping to get a sort of idea how to go about the process, and you've answered my question. Thanks so much, Bruce!
