Hello , I need some help , I have a guy on here that's new to the forum, and from Canada , all zeros one his page , he wants to buy my Dingwall ng-2 ship to Canada , I got screwed once before shipping a Dingwall gig bag. I said no and now he wants me to ship it to a usps store in upper New York. the last time I shipped a motorcycle fuel injection system valued at 2000.00 dollars to an out of state usps it came up missing, tracked it right to the usps location then disappeared. has anyone tried to get the usps to pay up on there insurance, believe me it's not worth it, took 6 months, I would like to sell bass , any help would be appreciated . thanks Steve

Too many red flags here for me. I'd pass and just "rip the bandage off" and tell him I'm not interested in shipping it to Canada. How many ads say "local pick up only" on them? It's not out of line at all as far as I'm concerned.

I fail to see any red flags here. I sold a Dingwall, an ABZ5, to an American. While they were not a new member, they had no buying record here. I am assuming you are using Paypal to take the money so I fail to see any issue. Just ship to a confirmed address, Paypal will side with you. You could always take a wire transfer so the buyer would have no recourse should the item be lost by USPS. I know Americans are really reluctant to do wire transfers but the rest of the world isn't. If the buyer really wants the bass, they'll take the chance. If they don't, you hold out for a new buyer.

If you do ship internationally, do so with USPS. The buyer will get hit with a bunch of extra fees if you use a courier.

Actually, PayPal almost always sides with the BUYER in a dispute.

Have you ever had a lost package claim against your Paypal? If so, who did Paypal side with once you provided a receipt with tracking information? I've only had it happen once but, once I sent the receipt, Paypal quickly sided with me since Canada Post said it had been delivered.

Yup. As a buyer. And they sided with me. I've also initiated a number of claims, as a buyer, for other issues, and had all ruled in my favor.

I sold a US Precision to a guy who joined TB just to buy it. It was blonde, and he said he had been looking for one in that finish. We did a USPS money order, cashed, before it shipped. No issues.

I've used PayPal hundreds of times, as a buyer and seller, with no issues. But what is to stop a buyer from trying to pull something? Like saying the case was full of bricks?

I would assume that seller failed to use adequate shipping methods. With tracking and signature, it is pretty hard to say something was not delivered where it was supposed to be.
