Shorten shielded patch cable. Voodoo power supply.

Hi, folks.
Here is the story.
I wanted to shorten the patch cable which came with Voodoo Iso5 power supply in order to make less mess on my compact pedalboard.
It's obviously a shielded cable. Question. Can I just solder center core to center core and shield to shield, isolate everything and put some heat shrink all over?

Why not just twist tie or zip tie the excess? That'd be a lot easier.

I wouldn't go that route personally. Either tie it up as suggested or cut it to length and solder a new connector onto whichever end you lop off.
