Should I buy a Spector?

I can’t comment on that specific model, but Spector is in a different class. I have a NS Pulse 2 and it sounds and plays amazing. I get more comments on my sound when I play my Spector. I wasn’t in the market for a new bass, but when I played one, I wanted one.

I've had mine for a few years and I enjoy playing it more than my Fender Jazz or Warwick. I can't really think of any complaints.

I bought mine online without trying it and just happened to like it FWIW. Good luck!

I love their Euro and US basses. I own 6 US Spectors atm. Went through 4-5 euros before I went all US.

Despite being a fan. Their other basses never seemed like a good value compared to traditional brands like Ibanez or Fender. Always felt like you could do better with those brands.

I liked mine enough to eventually spend for a Euro LT. The Legend is a great platform to do pickup/preamp mods and the ergonomics are similar/close to the euro and American models. The stock (Tonepump jr) preamp and pickups were not satisfactory to me so I swapped them out for EMG components and now love the instrument. The neck is quite slim compared to the Euro but very comfortable and stable. If you’re buying used online at a fair market value comparable price, you won’t lose anything if you end up not digging it and selling it off.

I borrowed my guitar player's 5 string Spector that looked just like the one in post #8, but with a gloss finish. It was a neck-through, and a very well built bass. I personally like to have the upper horn at around the 12th fret otherwise the 1st position is too far away from me so it didn't feel as good I want it to be, but that's a personal preference.

I had a Legend 5 and a Euro 4.

The Euro and US series are the real deal, the others, not so much.

LOVED the tone of the Euro, HATED the ergos. The short upper horn and bridge placement made it an incredibly uncomfortable bass for me.

If you really want a Spector, save for a US or Euro, used, don't waste your time on anything less. IME, you'll not get the Spector sound, just the crappy ergos. At that point, just get an Ibanez SR with the reverse PJ setup and put some EMG's in it. Same tone, way better ergos and less money.
