Should I or shouldn't I

I recently purchased a 1980 Ibanez MC924DS. I already have a 1979 version of the same bass. I am thinking of pulling the frets on the 1980 and converting it to a MC940. Part of me says to leave it original and just purchase a fretless. The other part says go ahead and do it, you can always re-fret it if you needed to. Thoughts?

Eeeeehhhhhh....
I wouldn’t. The Musician is one of my favorite classic Ibanez basses. I’d leave it alone and perfect, and just buy a fretless.
Now, whether you buy a Musician fretless or just any ol’ fretless is a different story...
