I don't think I will ever have the cash for a custom built bass, but I think if I did, I would get a buckeye burl top. They are very fascinating to me. The fact that they are essentially a mutant piece of wood, and each one is completely unique makes them even more awesome to me. It adds so much texture to whatever finish the builder puts on them.
