Livin’ on a slab in Plano, TX
Here's one I just got. I am so geeked. Since I was a teenager, I wanted one:

Bullfinch 1.JPG I'm not sure if this qualifies as "Silly", or just "Kinda Stupid". Anyway...
This is Bullfinch Most Likely. I bought him from an antique shop in Carterton, England when I was ... 10, I think. I really wanted an owl, but they were rather expensive, and, well, I was 10. This little guy cost me one pound ($2.80 at the time). When I asked the shopkeeper what kind of bird he was, he said, "Oh, Bullfinch, most likely". For some reason, my family decided that was going to be his name (my family is kinda.. warped..). He was 85 years old when I bought him in 1961, so he's about 142 now. He has survived - under that thin, blown glass dome; without losing any of that stuff under his perch, or getting his feathers ruffled :
- Being shipped to Minot, North Dakota;
- Being shipped back to England (and moved twice while there);
- Being shipped to Newport News, Virginia;
- Being shipped to Mountain Home, Idaho (then moved to Boise); and after many years on my parents mantlepiece,
- Coming here to Las Vegas in my car. He is currently residing - very happily - on the top of a book case I designed and had built when I was stationed in England.
Bullfinch has been an extraordinarily good pet. Eats nothing; he's never sick; and never makes a mess. I just dust his dome, and he's happy...To date, he's cost me exactly... one pound. Oh, and one last thing; after many years, I did some research, and.. he's not a Bullfinch. Those white bars on his wings mark him as a Chaffinch; but who cares...:whistle:

What trekker wouldn't want a phaser?
I liked mine so much, I had to get the matching communicator.

Sheesh! What I wouldn't have given to have one of these as a kid!

I was absolutely infatuated with the Communicator...so much so that I hand-crafted dozens of them out of anything that even slightly resembled them. Plastic, metal, wood...whatever I could find would soon have a flip-lid and would be my new toy for that month or so. I even remember cutting out a seat belt buckle latch from our '67 T-Bird because the button had that 'swirl' design like the face of the communicator. Hopefully the next person who bought that car didn't notice...:rolleyes:
